Knights continue to cruise on links

            An encouraging start to the 2008 campaign could mean big things for coach Mark Meyer’s golf crew.

            On Thursday, the Knights traveled to Marengo Ridge Golf Club to take on the host Indians and came away with a 157-176 win.

            The Knights have a 3-1 record in dual meets.

            Jeff Smith shot a 36 to key the win, followed by Eddie Musuras’ 39 and Hayley Guyton’s 40.

            Jake Tucker of Marengo shot a 40.

            On the JV side, the Knights were edged by Marengo in a 192-197 affair.

            Troy Krueger shot a 43.

            The Knights also competed in the Geneva Invitational on Wednesday, Aug. 27, and finished tenth overall with a tally of 417.

            Batavia, at 373, won the invite. Tyler Hochsprung and Smith shot an 82 each.

The Knights host Geneva at Hughes Creek on Thursday, Sept. 4, and travel to Sycamore on Monday, Sept. 8
