Tennis enjoys fall cleaning

On Thursday, Lady Knights tennis rose and met another challenge.

They succeeded in their task of beating visiting Marengo, and did with authority in a 5-0 sweep.

Kaneland’s record in dual meets is now 2-1 on the year.

No. 1 singles entry Olivia Emmanouil won 6-1, 6-1, and No. 2 entry Lindsay Jurcenko won over Jessica Williams in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles action, Emma Anderson and Katie Hatch handled Brenda Becker and Ruth Kimball in a 6-0, 6-0 affair.

Also earning doubles victories were the combinations of Kristen Sanecki/Jen Zmrhal and Kelsey Lenhardt/Liz Webb.

“We hit a lot of good shots today and made a lot of good choices on the courts. There’s still plenty of things to work on in practice,” coach Tim Larsen said.

Up for tennis is a trip to Minooka on Thursday, Sept. 4, and another road contest at Oswego on Monday, Sept. 8.
