Norman part of All-MWC Honors list at Beloit

RIPON, Wis.—Three members of the 2012 Beloit College Baseball team earned a spot on All-Midwest Conference Team, released today by the Conference Office.

Shortstop Jordan Jaenicke (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bishop McNamara), starting pitcher Alex Norman (Elburn/Kaneland) and relief pitcher Al Loth (East Troy, Wis.), all seniors, were named to the team.

Norman, a left-hander who also earned All-MWC honors in 2011, , led the team with seven wins, a 2.19 ERA and 50 strikeouts. His 2.19 ERA was the fourth-best in a single season while his seven victories tied the season record. Career-wise he finishes first in innings pitched, second in wins with 19 and ERA at 2.89, and third in appearances with 41. He led or shared the MWC lead in ERA, innings pitched and wins and was second in strikeouts and strikeouts looking.

The Bucs finished the 2012 season with a 19-21 overall record. They had a 9-7 mark in the MWC and earned a spot in the MWC Tournament for the second straight season and third time in four years, where they finished as the runner-up for the second straight season.

Norman’s conquest

Junior pitcher Alex Norman, graduate of Kaneland High School in 2008, earned First Team honors on the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Central Region Team for Beloit College.

One of three Buccaneers honorees, Norman established himself as the ace of the staff this season. He closed the regular season with a 7-2 record, tying him for the most wins in a single-season, and a 2.55 ERA, the fifth-best mark in Beloit history. He also has a better than 4 to 1 strikeout-to-walk ratio, having fanned 42 while walking just 11 in 67 innings.
He led the MWC in wins, ERA and innings pitched. He earned MWC First Team honors this season.
