NIU announces fall 2010 graduates

Northern Illinois University announced the awarding of undergraduate and graduate degrees at its fall 2010 commencement ceremonies held in December.

Graduates from the area receiving undergraduate degrees include Jon Gustafson, Micaelyn Janke, Brian Kuhar, Erika McIlnay, Rebecca Merfeld and Amanda Ritter, all of Elburn; Ashley Schultz of Maple Park; and Jake Bower, Anthony Canzoneri, Jonathan Easto, Emily Ernzen and Janelle Harner of Sugar Grove.

Graduate degrees were awarded to William Beith, Alicia Lisowski, Jaclyn Self and Shaun Wenz, all of Elburn; and Amy Blake, Kristyn Crawford, Ryan Crawford, James Kelly, Tony Valente and Dawn Wantuch, all of Sugar Grove.

Erickson Foundation awards scholarships

The Arnold and Mildred Erickson Charitable Foundation, Inc., awarded $49,600 in scholarships to graduates of Kaneland High School and Burlington Central High School.

Students receiving the awards include Hannah Bergman, Karla Blanco, Kelsey Borg, Bethany Doty, Michael Doty, Joshua Ehlers, Katherine Fabrizius, Page Foster, Margaret Gannon, Allison Gibble, Elizabeth Gibble, Lindsay Gruenke, Daniel Hagberg, Alexa Hill, Veronica Jenssen, Haley Johnson, Brittany Laggett, Nicholas Laggett, Samantha Laggett, Carrie Lund, Logan Markuson, Erin Martin, Joseph Martinez McWhorter, Emily Moxness, Christopher Ott, Stacy Pauli, Lauren Perucco, Lisa Roberson, Patrick Ruffolo, Joseph Russo, Shelly Santo, Ashley Schultz, Megan Shumaker, Taylor Slager, Julia Smith, George Spirakis, Kathleen Stover, Michael Sullivan, Brian Towell, Ashley Turk, Marissa Vokening, Samantha Wallace, Jennifer Weatherhead and Mariella Zavala.

NIU announces Spring 2009 dean’s list

Northern Illinois University anounced its dean’s list for the spring of 2009.

Local students named to the list include Stephanie Dietiker, Kelsey Drendel, Krista Escamillo, Ian Essling, James Gust, Alex Arnold, Meredith Haring, James Harrison, Jessica Johnson, Spencer Johnson, Joseph Krachala and Dominick Parillo, all of Elburn; Kelsey Borg, Danilla Colosi, Cherlyn Ladford, Rachel Mcdowell, Drew Olson, Ashley Schultz and Amy Seyller, all of Maple Park; Raquel Debartolo, William Homan, Linda Huber, Emily Krickl, Sarah McLennan, Kara Payne, Monica Ratlu, Brittany Schirmer, Ashley Schroeder and Lindsay Stahl, all of Sugar Grove.

Students enrolled in the colleges of Business, Education, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Visual Arts, and Health and Human Sciences must have a minimum semester grade point average of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale to be named to the dean’s list. Students enrolled in the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology must meet a minimum semester grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
