AURORA—Kaneland closed out the regular season Friday with a big come-from-behind win over Rochelle to lock up the Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference Championship. The Knights followed that by opening the post season with a huge 39-point victory over host Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA).

KANELAND—Kaneland golf will be taking swings at Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University in Normal, Ill., on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12-13.

Kaneland—Kaneland defeated visiting Morris on Tuesday at Hughes Creek Golf Course, winning the varsity match 151-169.

KANELAND—There exists no direct or obvious correlation for higher drama the further you go in the Class 3A boys basketball playoffs.

KANELAND—KHS boys hoops posted a win on Saturday evening—a nice change from a hard loss the week prior to Morris.

With balanced scoring and home court advantage, the Knights took care of Northern Illinois Big XII West Division opponent Ottawa by a final of 59-40. The positive result raises Kaneland’s mark to 11-6 (3-2 NIB-12).

KANELAND—A team always likes to make a statement in its opening contest. Preferably, it’d be a positive statement.

KANELAND—Beginning 1-0 in conference play doesn’t just sound better—it is better.

KANELAND—How does a golf squad repeat good fortune of a year ago, despite the loss of two intregral pieces?

KHS coach Mark Meyer, in his sixth season, has some ideas.

KANELAND—Not only do the Knights of Kaneland boys basketball want to deal with the ghosts of last year’s regional heartbreaker against the DeKalb Barbs, they also have to deal with the six-foot-10 gap in the middle of their lineup that finished 17-10 in 2010.
