Fox Valley Jewish Neighbors offer Shabbat services

Fox Valley Jewish Neighbors will offer a Shabbat morning service on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 121 S. Third St. The service will begin at 10 a.m.; lunch will follow at a member’s home.

The service will incorporate Hebrew and English readings, and will include a discussion centered around the week’s Torah portion.

Additionally, the group invites the public to attend services, events and educational programs offered throughout the year.

The group invites the public to attend Shabbat services on the third Friday of each month, at FVJN. Services begin at 7 p.m., followed by an oneg (snacks and visiting). Services are family friendly, and all are welcome.

Interested in meeting with others and discussing topics of interest? Come to the Lunch and Lomed (Learn) discussions for adults, which meets at noon, the first Thursday of each month. This open meeting invites adults to bring sack lunches and discuss topics of interest related to Judaism, including world events, politics, religion, Israel, and more. The meetings are run by attendees. Feel free to bring articles, stories or ideas to discuss. The next Lunch and Lomed will be held on Feb.12.

If you are looking for ways to introduce young children to Judaism, FVJN offers two opportunities to do so. Religious education classes for children ages 3 to 5 years old are held the first and third Sunday of each month, and a play group is also being offered once a month at the FVJN site, as well.

Please visit www.fvjn.org for more information on these and other events. A complete calendar of offerings for 2009 can also be found at this site, as well as contact information and how to get involved.

FVJN is located at 121 S. Third St., in downtown Geneva.
