Jeanette D. Hager, 77, of Elburn, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, after a short illness at the Provena Health Care Facility in Geneva.
She was born Sep. 27, 1931, in Oshkosh, Wis., the daughter of Fred and Dorothy (Stead) Schmidt. She married Lowell T. Hager on Feb. 3, 1950. Together, they made their home in West Chicago, Ill., where they raised their four children.
Jeanette was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 49 years, at which she was very active member pre-retirement. She worked at the Painters District Council No. 30 until her retirement in 1989. She traveled the states for the first couple of years; and then summered in Wisconsin and wintered in Arizona. In 2004, Jeanette decided it was time to get back closer to home, her kids and grandkids, so she found herself a home at the Meadows Apartments in Elburn. It was there she met some more incredible friends and was able to renew her fondness for playing cards, dominos and bingo, and of course, the monthly trips with the Elburn Seniors.
Jeanette is survived by her four children, Lowell Jr. (Laura) Hager, Peggy (Del) Domena-Ward, Tim (Cindy) Hager, and Gracie Lueken; six grandchildren, Phyllis (Doug Brauer) Domena, Kristi (Jeff) Mansfield, Jay (Amanda) Hager, Alan (Kay) Hager, Curtis Hager and Samantha Lueken; six great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Domena, Spencer Brauer, Katelyn and Jacob Hager, Mabel Hager and Addison Mansfield.
Also survived are her three sisters, three brothers, two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, all back in Oshkosh, Wis.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Ivan Domena; grandson, Bobby Domena; her father/mother in-law, one brother, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law.
Visitation was held on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes-Westside in Oshkosh, Wis., with funeral services immediately following. Burial was at Lake View Memorial Park.
