KANELAND—Kaneland Knights football achieved such great heights a year ago.

KANELAND—Senior Jimmy Boyle, who has been no slouch on the football field for Kaneland High School, now has something to remember his time as a wrestler by.

SYCAMORE—When KHS wrestling coach Monty Jahns mentioned that his team had an eye on the postseason and may be better equipped for tournament settings, he wasn’t kidding.

KANELAND—While the Knights sit with a dual record they’d no doubt like to improve, gatherings like the annual Margaret Flott Memorial Tournament hosted by KHS do a nice job of getting headed in the right direction.

DEKALB—With an 8-13 dual meet record through the first half of the year, Kaneland High School wrestling might not look like it’s making strides.

KANELAND—While Kaneland wrestling has nabbed some nice individual wins lately, the dual meet results that are desired are harder to come by.

KANELAND—It was time to think warmer thoughts at Kaneland High School, as Friday had the release of the Kaneland High School Fall Sports Awards.

The awards were announced at this late date due to the postseason success of the football squad.

KANELAND—With a full lineup after the end of football season, it was time to hit the mat for Kaneland wrestling on Saturday morning.

The Kaneland High School wrestling program can be pleased that they not only sent two wrestlers to the Class 2A State meet at Assembly Hall in Champaign, but also had those grapplers get a win on the Illini mat.

Fortunately for Knights wrestling, offseason plans aren’t starting just yet.

Thanks to a fourth-place finish at Saturday’s regional at Belvidere High School, five Knight grapplers are scheduled to compete at this weekend’s sectional out at the home of the Sterling Golden Warriors.

What better way to show the team-wide improvement from a year ago than at the 2010 Western Sun Conference wrestling meet this past Saturday.

With the way Kaneland High School wrestling began the regular season, conventional wisdom would dictate that it would perform better in Saturday’s 34th Sycamore Invite than last year.

Kaneland wrestling saw its prolific dual meet streak end on Thursday night vs. Yorkville, but still managed to get one win out of three opponents at a dual meet on Saturday.

Monday saw Kaneland High School dish out their annual awards for the fall sports season.

MAPLE PARK—Kaneland High School learned of five football players that were not just exceptional on the field, but in the classroom as well.

The Kaneland Knights football roster got a taste of playoff action a year ago after being absent in 2007, and liked what they had.
