KANELAND—The Kaneland Krier last month won 15 awards in the 2012 High School Communications Competition, as announced by the National Federation of Press Women on May 14.

KANELAND—A highly successful 2011-12 spring season was recognized with team awards dished out earlier this week, as well as honors from the end-of-year senior athletic banquet.

AURORA—There’s a saying that if you give someone an inch, they’ll take a mile. In the case of Lady Knights softball, give them the sixth inning, they’ll score six runs.

KANELAND—A team can only play the games in front of them on the softball diamond, and the playoffs will have to wait.

KANELAND—After KHS coach Brian Willis wished for the hitting to catch up to the above-average pitching and defense, the Lady Knights softball contingent spent this past week granting that wish in earnest.

KANELAND—An 8-1 start a year ago turned into a 14-19 finish for a softball group hoping for bigger things.

Kaneland—The Kaneland Krier took home the Golden Eagle, a trophy for best student newspaper in its class, for the second year in a row at the Northern Illinois Scholastic Press Association conference.

Proposal for 8-period days has opposition KANELAND—The average class period will be much shorter for Kaneland High School students under a more traditional schedule slated for 2011-12.

Kaneland’s School Board has decided to change from the four-block schedule to an eight-period schedule by the beginning of next year.
