Roger Phillip Crome Sr.

Roger Phillip Crome Sr., 65, of Sycamore, formerly of Burlington, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012.

He was born Dec. 31, 1946, in Lawton, Okla., the son of John and Dorothy Juanita (Roskam) Crome. Roger grew up in Burlington and attended Burlington Elementary School and Burlington Central High School. Roger served in the Army from 1965 to 1968 in the 7th Battalion (HAWK) 5th Artillery. He was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War.

Roger worked as an electrician for 37 years and was a member of the IBEW Local No. 117. He enjoyed fishing and deer hunting and loved to play cribbage.

Surviving are his wife, Connie (nee Dodd), whom he married on Nov. 17, 1984; his mother, Juanita Crome of Genoa, Ill.; two sons, Roger (Cristy) Crome Jr. and John (Nicole) Crome, both of Sycamore; one daughter, Dawn Reis of Wonder Lake, Ill.; one stepson, Duane (Sharon) Zeilmann of Peoria, Ariz.; one stepdaughter, Dawn (James) Northcutt of Marengo, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, Derrick and Brayden Crome, Gabriel, Elijah and Lillian Crome, Jourden and Shawn Reis, Konner, Keegan and Kyle Northcutt; one sister, Patricia (Richard) Laverty of St. Charles; and two brothers, Kenneth (Patricia) Crome of Genoa, and Charles (Marissa) Crome of Davis Junction, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire, Ill., and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, June 1, at St. John Lutheran Church, 13N535 French Road, Burlington, Ill.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. John Lutheran Church. Pastor Howard Gleason officiating. Burial will be at the Burlington Union Cemetery.
