5 years ago: As Laura McGill paid for her purchase at The Grocery Store, a semi driven by Brian Winter slammed into her car parked along Route 47 in downtown Elburn. Half of the state highway was closed for several hours as emergency crews cleaned up the scene. No one was injured.
10 years ago: The Kaneland boys basketball team dominated Fox Valley Lutheran in the first round of the Hampshire Regional by a score of 104-20.
15 years ago: Sugar Grove took its first steps in hiring a Village Administrator, after passing then-Trustee’s Norm Zielke’s motion by a 3-1 vote.
30 years ago: Jim Watson became Kaneland’s first AA Championship in diving, beating out the 11 other divers that advanced to the final. “After hitting my 1 1/2 somersault with the two twists, I knew no one was going to catch me,” Watson said.
